Trails and Take Aparts:

Mountain Biking and Steam

In partnership with the Scott Family Amazeum, this camp combines mountain biking and STEAM. In the morning, campers will complete a skills assessment, learn mountain biking skills and ride the Slaughter Pen trails. In the afternoon, campers will explore tinkering and creativity skills as they dissect and repurpose bicycles and other biking gear at the Amazeum.
Campers must already be comfortable riding on pavement. Mountain bike and helmet required for each camper- bring your own or can be provided.
June 26 - 30
July 10 - 14
Ages 8-11, Cost: $450 ($400 for Amazeum Members)

Mountain Bike Skills

During Bike School Bentonville Spring Break and Summer Camps, riders will be coached by trained Bike School Bentonville  coaches on a variety of mountain bike skills so they can become safe and confident riders. Fundamental Skills include:

  • Ready/neutral position for descending hills
  • Side/Side bike body separation
  • Pedaling/shifting efficiently
  • Controlling speed and braking safely
  • Cornering confidently
  • Handling obstacles and rocky terrain
  • Riding with vision
  • Ratcheting and momentum

Camps are available for kids 6-13 years old. Participants will be evaluated on the first day and placed into groups based on skill and age. For a full description of our mountain bike skill level progression, view the TRAIL KIDS MTB Skill Level Guide.

Participants will need their own mountain bike, helmet, and water bottle carrier to participate. Bikes need to have front and back wheel brakes on the handle bars (no pedal brakes or kickstands allowed). Tires must have tread and be wide enough to ride safely on mountain bike trails.

Camps are ages 6 – 13, beginner to advanced abilities welcome (we split into different coaching groups based on ability, fitness, age, and friend request – friends who are of different riding abilities may not be placed together).
